Adult Discipleship Opportunities

Friday Home Study Groups

Church members and friends are encouraged to participate in any or all of our regular Friday night Home Study Groups. The schedule is as follows. Everyone is welcome!

  • First Friday of the Month, 7:00 PM at the home of Terry and Katie Widel. For more information,

  • Second Friday of the Month, 7:00 PM at the home of Stuart and Everall Peele. For more information, call Everall Peele at (336) 864-0332.
  • Third Friday of the Month, 7:00 PM at the home of Mike and Martha Corum. For more information, call the Corums at (336) 623-4528.
  • Fourth Saturday of the Month, 6:00 PM at the home of Curt and Jessie Southard. For more information, call Curt Southard at (336) 280-1981 or Jessie Southard at (919) 500-6816. Bring the children!

Pastor’s Bible Study – Wednesdays at 6:00 PM

The pastor leads a Bible study every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00. Topics vary from major Biblical themes to verse by verse examinations of individual Bible books. Everyone is welcome. Come to the covered entrance, and bring a friend!

Sunday School Classes at FPC

First Presbyterian Church currently offers two classes for children and four classes for adults that meet from 9:00 to 9:50 AM.

Preschool Class

Lisa Lovett teaches Sunday School for preschoolers ages 3 to 6 years old. They meet in Room D-09 (second floor of the education wing).

Light Bulbs

Martha Corum leads our Light Bulbs Class for children 7 to 11 years old. They meet in Room D-08 (second floor of the education wing).

Youth Class

Jennifer Isley and MaryLynn Boyd lead our new Sunday School Class for middle and high school students. They meet in the Youth Room.

Through the Bible

taught by Terry Widel in room C-21: “We read through the different books of the Bible and study the different Biblical doctrines that God wants us to know and understand; so we can apply these to our everyday lives to better serve Him.”

Bible Explorers Class

taught by Bill Robertson in the Library. Beginning with the common lectionary readings for each week, this class is a freewheeling conversation about faith, the world, and the Word of God.

Truth-Seekers Class

led by David Grogan in room D-05. Adult Bible study focusing on covenants in the Bible, and how we relate to God through His covenant faithfulness.

Discipleship Class

led by the pastor and designed primarily for young adults and new Christians (everyone is welcome) to develop some basic HOW TOs for living our Christian faith every day.

Young at Hearts

Young at Hearts is a fellowship group for adults 50 years old and up. We meet for lunch every third Tuesday of the month in the Gathering Area – sometimes covered dish and sometimes catered. There is always an interesting program, a short devotion, and lots of great fun and fellowship. Everyone is welcome!

“Soul Sisters” Women’s Group

Our “Soul Sisters” group is for all women. They meet for fun and fellowship the third Monday evening of every month at 6:00 PM. Bring a friend!

Tuesday Morning Video Series

David Grogan leads a video Bible study series every Tuesday morning at 10:30. Everyone is welcome. Each video is followed by additional comments, probing questions, and stimulating conversation within the group. They meet in the Daily Living Room … come to the Music Room entrance and parking lot, or ask for directions in the church office.

Young Adults Fellowship

Our young adults (20s, 30s, and 40s) enjoy getting together of good food and great fellowship about once a month. Everyone is welcome, and childcare is often available. Call the church office for more information.
